COVID-19 Safe

Safe, Healthy, Happy and Calm Return To The Studio

Based on the government’s advice and guidelines, AGSD has made some changes so we can all continue to operate and ensure everyone feels safe in the studios including:

  • Reduced studio capacity to increase space between students based on World Health Organization guidelines and adhere to 2 metre distancing
  • Increased sanitising of surfaces in communal areas such as floors, door handles, toilets and sinks by the studio organisers
  • Sanitising of all studio floors regularly by the studio organiser
  • AGSD will provide disinfectant wipes/hand sanitisers for parents/guardians/pupils to use before and after entering the building
  • Staggered entry for large groups

Please follow the instructions on hygiene and social distancing as displayed around the building to keep yourself and everyone safe.

By attending a course at AGSD you agree to abide by these rules:

Building Rules

  • Use hand sanitiser upon arrival, and regularly throughout your time with-in the building. Ideally bring your own to reduce contact with our dispensers, but we do have them located by the entrance
  • Everyone must wear face masks when entering the building and when in common areas
  • Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water for 20 seconds or use hand sanitiser before putting your mask on
  • After drying your hands throw the towel in the clearly designated bin
  • NO FOOD AND DRINK IN STUDIOS – only bottled water, which is not to be shared
  • To maintain 2 metres distance, please adhere to the floor marking at reception/waiting area

St Saviour’s Hall waiting area:

  • The organisers at St Saviour’s are allowing no more than 5 people in the waiting area, please wait outside at an appropriate distance
  • Arrive at your child’s ballet start time and not before. Early arrivals will be required to wait outside of the building
  • Please pick up your child on time at the end of her class. If you are late please call Miss Angela or text to let her know
  • Pupils will be escorted from the studio to the main door where they will be collected

Acton Gardens Community Centre waiting area:

  • The waiting/communal seating area is only to be used for staggered entry and as an exit buffer to minimize proximity with people. The organisers are not encouraging anyone to sit and wait in the waiting area but this could change.
  • Arrive at your child’s ballet start time and not before. Early arrivals will be required to wait outside of the building
  • Please pick up your child on time at the end of his/her class. If you are late please call Miss Angela or text to let her know
  • Pupils will be escorted from the studio to the main door where they will be collected

Studio Rules

  • Students should arrive and leave dressed for class in their own ballet kit
  • There will be no use of props but students will be allowed to bring one item that they will need for their grade. Miss Angela will inform each grade closer to term
  • There will be no partnering or holding hands during class
  • 2 metres distance, using floor markings and lines will be staggered. Markings will be either using colored tape, mats, and images of well-known dancers or ballet positions to make it fun and creative for the children!
  • Barres will be marked
  • There will be cleaning products provided in each studio and Miss Angela will clean any table tops, barres, and sound systems in-between classes
  • Pupils should refrain from touching mirrors or walls

At the end of each class, studio and waiting areas will be wiped down e.g. doors, door handles, barres, table tops

As a parent/guardian and student, you agree to take full responsibility for your personal health, hygiene and assure the safety of others in attendance, including high-risk participants.

We strongly advise those deemed as high risk to avoid attending the studios.

Attending is at your own risk and all visitors must wear masks at all times in communal areas.

Staff at both venues will be in charge of maintaining cleanliness around the communal areas. Miss Angela and an assistant will be cleaning/wiping surfaces, in-between classes.

Online Payment

Class payments if possible should be made online. Payment is requested before or by the first class, any late payments will adhere to a £10 admin fee if payment is not made by half term of that term.

Forced Closures

If there is a lockdown, there will be two options if the classes can’t go ahead in the studio1.

  1. Zoom classes or
  2. Pre-recorded videos of Miss Angela teaching will be made available for home practice

Covid 19 Guidelines

Teachers and students who are unwell with the following symptoms of Coronavirus (Covid-19) should not attend the studios. If you have any of the following symptoms DO NOT enter the building.

  • a high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
  • a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
  • a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you’ve noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal

To protect others, do not go to places like a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital if you have any of these symptoms. Stay at home and self-isolate for 14 days.

If you have symptoms and have a booking with us, please contact the academy as soon as possible.

If you have recently traveled or come back abroad, please self-isolate for 14 days before attending the studios.

We are all learning as we go. My pledge is to work with you to talk through any of the issues and concerns you may have. I want to provide a safe, happy, healthy, and calm class environment for all my students. I will be continuously reviewing procedures at my various studios and I am in touch with the Royal Academy of Dance who are advising teachers weekly with studio/class guidelines.

ABOUT ANGELA

Angela Grant (RAD RTS) is one of a trio of performing sisters, namely Rebecca Grant (Holby City) and Rachel Grant (Die Another Day). She was trained with her sisters from an early age by Miss Nora Morrison MBE at the Nora Morrison School of Dance in Nottingham . She went on to train at the prestigious Elmhurst Ballet School and then at the London Studio Centre.
